If he'd been the first to say it you could've put it down to a mistake but as Joey Barton got slated for it a couple of weeks ago you've got to think he's a fucking idiot. Answer the question - stating the meaning of the word makes no difference!
It's like saying "Hillsborough" - what do you think of first - the football ground of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. or the tragedy of that FA Cup Semi Final?
The word holocaust is not used in every day conversation referring to anything other than the atrocity in WWII.. and is offensive to any right thinking person that hears it being compared to anything that might happen in a Football match..
The nearest comparable occasion where it could possibly be used that's happened in my lifetime would be in relation to the Ethic Cleansing in Yugoslavia/Bosnia in the 90s - but even then it wasn't used it was referred to as Ethnic Cleansing...
Now do you get it?

No I think it's you that doesn't get it... I don't care that you think Hillsborough is synonymous with what happened there, its still a football stadium to me.
Holocaust has more than one meaning it's a word its in the dictionary I just posted it's meaning here.. If tragic events from history are described with a word does that make them invalid for anything else, not according to the dictionary, I m not offended or bothered by it's use..
Sorry if you don't get that..
